Riverwalk Winter Solstice event Dec. 21
Posted in November issue of Positively Naperville

The Riverwalk Foundation is hosting its first annual winter solstice event, its third seasonal event this year.  Foundation president, Ruth Fawell, (pictured center) recently welcomed Nicki Anderson and Pam Swafford as co-chairman to plan the festivities.

"The Riverwalk Winter Solstice:  Celebrating A Season of Lights" is slated from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, December 21.

Cocoa, chestnuts, cookies and candy will be available for sale along with commemorative bricks ($150) and Cock Robin Souvenir bricks ($50) as Carillon music fills the air from 4 to 4:30 and 5:30 to 6 p.m.  Strolling artists will entertain.

Brian Lynch (pictured left) of North Central College will be the master of ceremonies, leading the gatherers in wintery songs from 4:30 to 5:15.

The brief program and lighting of the amphitheater will begin at 5:15.  The lights reflect the first gift to the Riverwalk from the Riverwalk Foundation, the result of recent fund-raising.

The event is free, full of surprises, and open to the entire community.
