Where
is the Naperville Park District located and what are their hours?
The
award-winning park district has practically anything a family could
want in the way of recreation. The District maintains 114
parks covering more than 2,000 acres. Hundreds of programs
are offered throughout the year. The administration building
is located along the Riverwalk at 320 W. Jackson Avenue. Business
hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and
9:00 a.m. to noon Saturday. The Alfred Rubin Riverwalk Community
Center, located at 305 W. Jackson Avenue, is home to New Horizons
- a program for everyone 55 and better. Business hours are
Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

of Naperville administrative offices are located on the south bank
of the Riverwalk between Eagle and Webster streets in the Municpal
Center, 400 S. Eagle Street. Business hours are 8:00 a.m.

What
is the Century Walk?
23 major artworks are located throughout the downtown area as a tribute to Naperville's 20th-century heritage. Century Walk, funded by the city of Naperville via hotel/motel taxes and the private sector, commissions three distinctive art pieces per year, over a 10-year period. Free-standing sculpture, mosaic benches, wall relief sculpture and beautiful, colorful murals can be found throughout the central business district.

Jackson Avenue between Webster and Eagle streets. What
is the Millennium Labyrinth?
Imbedded
in the stage of the amphitheater is a labyrinth built to recognize
the millennium. By following a single path to the center,
one can embark on an experience to quiet the mind and find peace.
Stepping onto the path, it becomes a metaphor for life's journey,
a reflective path of shared experience travelled by past and future
generations. It is said that walking the labyrinth represents
a passage and going forth. The labyrinth is a gift from the
Riverwalk Commission, Celebration 2000, and artist Marty Kermeen.

is the Millennium Wall?
The
wall expresses thanks and appreciation to the individuals and businesses
who contributed to Celebration 2000, a citywide celebration held
to welcome the third millennium. It represents Naperville
citizens working and planning together united in a spirit of respect
and honor for their shared lives within the community. Located
behind and above the Millennium Amphitheater.

Where
is Rotary Hill?
Rotary Hill, a popular sled hill, is the site of many special events held on the Riverwalk. It is located north of Aurora Avenue and west of Eagle Street. The Millennium Carillon is located at the base of Rotary Hill.

is Centennial Beach?
This
former quarry was part of a 45-acre purchase in 1931 to celebrate
Naperville's 100th birthday. Centennial Beach was designed
and built to be the community's swimming pool. Today, this
award-winning facility remains a beloved landmark and favorite summer

What
is the Millennium Carillon?
The
Carillon celebrates the third millennium. The bell tower rises
148 feet and houses 72 bronze bells with the largest weighing over
five tons. It is sheathed in natural limestone reflective
of the early Naperville stone masons who quarried along the banks
of the West Branch of the DuPage River. The four cornerstones
of the tower represent Naperville's core values: Community,
Family, Education and Commerce.

have?
To
report violations of Naperville Park District ordinances or other
park concerns, call the Park Watch line at 848-5050. You also
may call to report vandalism or the improper use of park equipment
or facilities. Leave your name, phone number, and the nature
of your concern. Park district officers are required to respond
to all calls within 24 hours. Call 911 for emergencies.

What
are the safety rules concerning the Riverwalk?
Except
for strollers and authorized service vehicles, only foot traffic
is allowed on the Riverwalk. Bicycles, roller skates, roller
blades, and all motorized vehicles are prohibited. Parents
should keep their children away from the edge of the lower walks,
off the railings, and away from the banks of the waterways.
Swimming also is prohibited in the waterways along the Riverwalk.
Riverwalk
walkways can become treacherous during rainy, snowy weather or construction.
Please use extra caution.

Can
you rent paddleboats?
Paddleboats
can be rented on the big quarry, west of Eagle Street between the
DuPage River and Aurora Avenue. Weather permitting, the paddleboat
quarry is open on all nonschool days from early spring (April or
May) through September. During the season, two-seat and four-seat
boats can be rented for 20-minute or 40-minute rides.

Is
fishing allowed?
Fishing
is possible in the DuPage River and Paddleboat Quarry. Northern
pike and small-mouth bass have been caught along the Riverwalk.
Anglers can hook channel catfish, blue gills, and rainbow trout
in the quarry. All State of Illinois regulations apply, including
the requirement of a valid fishing license for individuals 16 and
older.

Does
the riverwalk connect to the DuPage River Trail?
The
DuPage River Trail begins at the eastern and western terminus of
the Riverwalk. A link to other outstanding county and state-wide
trail system, this path provides connections between neighborhoods
and parks, schools, employment centers, the commuter rail station,
and the downtown area.
The
Trail is designed to accommodate walkers, runners, bicyclists, roller
bladers, and skateboarders. Construction of the first segment
of the Trail began in the Summer of 1999.

What
is Stream Bank Stabilization and Riffles Project?
The
section of the west branch of the DuPage River which flows through
Naperville has the highest quality of any stream or river in DuPage
County. Stream bank restoration and the riffles project both
work to enhance water quality, improve aquatic habitat and increase
recreational values of the river.

Is the Riverwalk handicapped accessible and is there a place to rent wheelchairs?
The Riverwalk paths are maintained well and cleared of obstacles. Currently, however, there is no ADA access to the lower walkway along the water's edge. A rehabilitation project beginning in the fall of 2007 will provide more access.
As far as wheel chair rental is concerned, the Naperville Township lends wheelchairs to people at no charge. It's recommended to call at least a week in advance to arrange for pickup. For information about the
